Overview:

Union Summer Virtual offers students the opportunity to take online summer courses using an Internet-based curriculum that can be accessed anytime, anywhere. Courses are interactive and supported as students communicate with highly qualified teachers. Each student is monitored by a certified teacher with a commitment to quality and high standards. Courses within the Virtual program is designed as a college readiness program and are for first-time credit only. Online summer courses are a good fit for students wanting to open their schedules for more co-curricular activities, Tulsa Tech, and concurrent opportunities.

Benefits:

- All Classes 1 High School credit (except OK History is 0.5 credit)
- Short duration (8 weeks vs 36 weeks) so must have focus.
- Create more scheduling options during the school year.
- Reduce summer slide effects.

Requirements:

- Incoming grades 8-12
- Minimum GPA 2.5
- Internet access
- No more than a 5-day break from internet access and assignments.
- Weekly Check – In
- Students must attend Orientations

Application Process:

Step 3: Review of your application.

Step 4: Receive Acceptance or Decline email. If a course does not meet the minimum number of students, the course will be canceled. Note: Qualified applications are enrolled on a first come first-serve basis.

Step 5: If Accepted, Pay $100 for course. Details on how to pay will be in the acceptance email. Payment Due May 15, 2024 at 3:00pm. If payment is late, students will be withdrawn from class.

Step 6: Complete Administration Orientation by May 30, 2024.

Step 7: Login to CANVAS, complete Teacher Orientation, and Start Class on June 3, 2024.

1. 1. 1. The last day to drop class and receive a refund is June 9, 2024, at Midnight; no partial refunds.
    2. The last day to drop class without grade showing up on transcript is July 10, 2024, at Midnight.

Teacher Schedules/Locations: TBA

Students must attend an online orientation with the instructor on Monday, June 3rd. Depending on the teacher, some will have a posted video and some might have a live zoom meeting to attend. Specific information will be sent from the teacher. Alternate arrangements must be made prior to May 25th if the student is unable to attend.

Office Hours will be set by the instructor of the course. Students will be required to check-in with their instructor on a weekly basis, virtually or in person as required by the instructor. Phone, email, and regular communication will be necessary. Students may be required to physically check-in during teacher office hours once a week. Geometry and Algebra II students will have a different schedule.

Once your application has been approved, you will receive a confirmation email. The confirmation email will list locations where families can pay tuition fees. Enrollment is not complete until tuition fee has been paid and the Administration Orientation has been viewed and acknowledged. Qualified applications are enrolled on a first-come first serve basis.
